Mac computers with M5 chips to be introduced soon

Ana sayfa / News

The expected timeline for Apple’s next-generation Mac models featuring the M5 processor is beginning to emerge. According to Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman, a reliable industry insider, the tech giant aims to release new MacBook Air models featuring the M5 chip in the spring of 2026. Just before this launch, the more powerful MacBook Pro models featuring the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors are expected to be released early in the year.

Apple won’t make any design changes for this first wave of M5s. The company’s priority will be to maintain the existing chassis and focus entirely on processor performance. As you may recall, the MacBook Air last received a significant design update in 2022, and a larger 15-inch version joined the family in 2023. The last major design change for the MacBook Pro was in 2021. Therefore, the first M5-powered models will feature a familiar look.

The real big updates will likely be expected in late 2026 or early 2027. Apple is reportedly working on an all-new MacBook Pro series that will be much thinner, lighter, and feature an OLED display and touchscreen capabilities. This update will be the first major design overhaul for the series since 2021. For the MacBook Air, an updated LCD display and accompanying design tweaks are planned for 2027.

Apple’s M5 roadmap isn’t limited to laptops. The company is also developing new Mac Studio and Mac mini versions featuring the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, keeping desktop users in mind. It’s also been reported that at least two new external monitors, one of which will be the second generation of the Studio Display, are in the works. There’s currently no firm date for the launch of the new monitors and desktop Macs.

All these developments point to an exciting era in which Apple will offer a blend of performance and design within the Mac lineup. So, what do you think of Apple’s new Mac models with the M5 processor? Share them with us in the comments.
